3 Things to Always Buy at Dollar Stores

We all love great deals but are you guilty of overspending on these 3 items when you can get the exact same for less at a local dollar store?

1. Greeting Cards

Why spend $4 or $5 on greeting cards when you can pick some up at the dollar store for as low as 50¢.

2. Gift Bags/ Decorative Party Supplies

Whether your giving presents or decorating a kids party, dollar stores offer great supplies for only $1. Save your money and buy these supplies here since they’ll end up in the garbage after the party anyway.  Small gift bags are as low as 10 cents each in a multipack.

3. Hair Accessories

Hair ties to bobby pins, we lose these like its our job so don’t spend $2 or $3 on them just to ‘misplace’ it in a week.

Dollar stores do offer brand name items so don’t pay twice as much for simple things you can get here. Check out what coupon match ups we have at couponmom.com. We also match printable coupons daily to your local grocery stores.

3 CVS Shopping HACKS

CVS can be a great place to buy your everyday needs when you combine the right shopping tips, check out the 3 hacks below for EXTRA savings:

1.  Register your CVS Card

Don’t forget to register your email with your card for more savings and offers. These offers can range from 30% off your purchase to a simple $2 Extra Buck. No matter the savings, these email offers can save you a little extra cash so you don’t want to miss out! Another tip, ALWAYS scan your CVS card at the register. In doing so, you will get the best coupons that fit your purchasing behavior.

2. Instant Store Coupons

The first thing I do after walking into CVS is head straight for the red coupon kiosk! I scan my card for instant store coupons to see what kind of deals I can take advantage of. The kiosk coupons are based on what products you have purchased in the past so they will vary by user. Combine these store coupons with manufacturer coupons for EXTRA savings and possibly score some FREE deals.

3. Strategically Use ExtraCare Bucks

Also known as ECB’s! Purchase items that are part of an Extra Buck promotion and get Extra Bucks that print at the bottom of your receipt. They work just like cash and can be used immediately on future transactions. So strategically shop and plan separate transactions to help lower your out of pocket costs by rolling your ExtraBucks. In doing so, you’ll be saving TONS of money throughout the year.

These are just a few HACKS to save money at CVS! For more strategic shopping tips or to see the best deals each week, visit CouponMom.com You can also print up $1500+ coupons and see a list of the best grocery deals near you!

3 Things to ALWAYS Buy at Target

Certain items at certain stores are ALWAYS the best deal. Find out what 3 things you should ALWAYS buy at Target:

1. Health & Beauty

Target has some great deals on their health and beauty products. Their regular prices are often much lower than other retailers, and with a coupon they are even better! Their Cartwheel app also has some great deals on health and beauty. It has an entire section dedicated to makeup, fragrance and hair care and a health section for over-the-counter medications, bandages, eye drops and other items. You can even combine these deals with printable coupons.

2. Bath Towels

Target has lots of colorful bath towels to choose from for a great deal. You can get a solid bath towel for $12.99, compared to Costco’s McCormick Collection for $21.99 each. You can also find them on clearance for up to 70 percent off! Domestic items are usually marked down on Tuesdays and can lead to a great deal on towels. You might have to go to multiple stores to find the best prices but they are definitely worth looking into. These promotions are usually short, so make sure you sign up for Target’s email list or watch their website to make sure you don’t miss them!

3. The Dollar Section

If you have ever been to Target you have most likely hit up those dollar bins when you first enter the store. You can find anything from office supplies to seasonal socks here at a great value. Some of their best deals are holiday items and stationery. Their holiday section changes with the seasons and holidays and always has something fun to discover. When it’s time to clear out the old, they will have 50% to 70% off sales.

5 Money Saving Target Hacks

We have all been guilty of going into Target for 1 item and coming out with a cart full of things so check out these 5 money saving tips for your next Target trip:

1. Price mark downs?

Target will markdown certain departments on specific days of the week. Knowing the schedule can help you shop strategically so check it out below:

Monday: electronics, accessories, kids’ clothing, books, baby, stationery
Tuesday: domestic goods, women’s clothing, pets, market (food items)
Wednesday: men’s clothing, health & beauty, diapers, lawn & garden, furniture
Thursday: houseware, lingerie, shoes, toys, sporting goods, decor & luggage
Friday: auto, cosmetics, hardware, jewelry

2. End of aisle savings

For more discounted items, check the the shelves at each end of the aisle. These items are often marked down anywhere from 15 to 70 percent!

3. Clearance Codes

We all love browsing the clearance ranks or seeing the red clearance tags at Target but can you save even more money on those items? Items ending in $.06 and $.08 will be marked down again so wait to buy these items. Prices ending in $.04 are final clearance so get those when you can. Random endings like $.05 and $.01, simply indicate that the item is on clearance and will continue to be on clearance.

4. Holiday Sales

Holiday decor, items etc. are normally 50% off the day after a holiday. But if you wait a couple more days, items can drop up to 90% off. Items go quick so be on the lookout for those extra savings.

5. Cartwheel App

Target’s Cartwheel app allows you to double your savings by combining it with manufacturers coupons. Save on categories ranging from food to electronics and everything else in between.

You can also save by visiting couponmom.com to find all your grocery and drugstore needs. Print up to $1500+ printable coupons as well.

5 Money Saving Walmart Hacks

We all shop at Walmart for their ‘everyday low prices’ but check out these 5 hacks to save even more money on your next visit:

1.Discounts for in-store pickups

Take advantage of Walmart’s “pickup discount’ which allows for extra savings on select products when you ship and pickup at your local store. That’s one way to avoid a shipping cost!

2. Get Groceries without leaving your car

This is the same concept as their “pickup discount” BUT they will also load your car for you! That’s a pretty hassle free grocery shopping trip so why not take advantage of this feature.

3. Save even more on clearance goods?

We’ve all been there, you’re walking down an aisle and see the big yellow clearance sign and of course you want to buy EVERYTHING but is that really a good idea? Could you save even more by waiting? Lets crack down on Walmart’s price tag code. We are all familiar with Walmart prices ending in 7 which means it’s the full original price. Prices ending in 5 is the 1st markdown BUT can be marked down even more. Final markdowns will end in 0 or 1, so of course we want to buy those products.

4. Get paid to shop?

Walmart allows overages! If your coupon exceeds the price of your purchase item, they will give you the difference (overage) which can then be applied to the rest of your cart purchases. For example, Bic razors cost $2.83 but you have a $3 off Bic coupon, the overage of 17¢ will be applied to the rest of your overall purchase.

5. Save on Meat and Baked goods

If you’re looking to save on your weekend BBQ, it’s best to shop between 8-10 AM. During these hours, their products have been discounted which allows you to get the best deals and first dibs! So maybe its worth waking up just a little bit early.

Try these 5 hacks on your next visit to your local Walmart. You can also save by visiting couponmom.com to find all your grocery and drugstore needs. Print up to $1500+ printable coupons as well.
