This week Publix, based in Florida, revised their coupon policy to tighten certain limits. For example, shoppers may only use 8 identical item coupons per household, per day (which means no multiple transactions by other family members over the 8 total).  This kind of policy only impacts the most “extreme” couponers, but I wonder what future changes will impact all coupon shoppers? Fry’s, based in Arizona, discontinued doubling manufacturers’ coupons yesterday, Oct. 1st.  They were one of the last grocery store chains to end their doubling program.  Up until yesterday, all coupons less than $1 were worth $1 off, so a 25-cent coupon would really be worth $1 off.  Going forward, that 25-cent coupon will be deducted at its face value of 25 cents.  Fry’s spokesperson says that some items’ prices will be reduced, and that Fry’s will have more digital coupons available on their website.  Click here for details on this story and the coupon policy.
