Easy Way to Help Tornado Survivors in Joplin

A fabulous group of Extreme Couponers I know  is organizing an effort to get donated supplies to the Joplin families in need.  If you have extra coupon bargains that you can donate, you can ship them very inexpensively to a Springfield, Missouri location where they will be sorted and transported to Joplin to distribute.

For only $10.95, you can get a flat rate box at the post office and fill it with as much as it will hold, then mail it to the Springfield, Missouri location.  There are no weight restrictions, so pack this box as full as you can!  (and you can send as many  boxes as you want, of course)

The items that are needed most are baby items ( formula, wipes, diapers),  clothing ( in good condition),  tarps,  batteries,  flashlights,  non-perishable food and toiletries.  Think of all the supplies you would need if you lost everything–toothbrushes, feminine hygiene items, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and more.

Here are details, to donate and/or to come and help sort:

1.  If you live in the Houston area, the address of the Houston donation drop off is : The Woodlands Christian Church, 1202 North Millbend Dr.,  The Woodlands,  TX 77380.  Donations must be received by  June 17th.

2.  If you don’t live in the Houston area, you can ship supplies to:  Coupon-Aid (care of the Vineyard Church),  634 W. Wall,  Springfield, MO 65806

3.  On June 18th & 19th, the coupon team has 2 work days planned over Father’s Day weekend to sort supplies at the Springfield location above (one hour from Joplin) to be able to take to Joplin.   Again, anyone is invited to come and help.

Entertainment Books 2 for $20, $1 shipping per book

My favorite coupon book is an incredible bargain this week: Buy one, and get another free PLUS $1 shipping per book. This works out to $11 a book, which you’ll save with one coupon. Our family uses these coupons all the time for retail stores at the mall, restaurants, car rental rates (the lowest ever), activities like bowling and museums, and many more great bargains. Many cities’ books also have grocery coupons, you can preview your city’s book before you buy it. Or buy one for a city you plan to visit this summer!  Order your books here before your city is sold out!

New Extreme Couponing Episode

Just finished watching this week’s new episode of Extreme Couponing and I learned a few things, how about you?

Amber, the first shopper, has only been couponing for 3 months and believe me, she’s a quick study! And I was thrilled when they showed her at the computer using the Coupon Mom website. . .you couldn’t see much of it but of course I recognized the tiny part of the screen that they showed. Her store was having an amazing coupon promotion and she was able to save 93% on an order that started at over $2,600. But sadly, nothing for dinner!

Amanda, the second shopper, was on the show for the second time. To avoid locking up the register she divided her total order into 8 transactions with 8 different envelopes. The most exciting part was at the end when she almost lost, but then found, her coupon envelope. Amanda is very dramatic! However, she may have to be extremely nice to her husband for the rest of her life after being a little bit testy with him in the grocery store—perhaps this is why my husband won’t go shopping with me on TV? You have to catch the reruns of this episode, definitely entertaining.

Happy Shopping!
