Although Publix hasn’t made an official announcement yet (stay tuned for it on May 14th), cashiers are being trained on their new coupon policies and they will be put into effect on May 23rd. Training materials have been leaked and this Tampa Tribune newspaper article has details of the new policy according to their source.
As a seasoned coupon user, I think all of their policy points are reasonable and generous. Any Strategic Shopper will be able to save money fairly and ethically at Publix stores within these guidelines.
The only concerning point on the list was that individual Publix stores can limit quantities of deals purchased, and we’ve already heard one report of a customer being able to buy only ONE deal with their coupon. In many cases their ads say “limit 4” but having a limit of only one would be a game changer. Be sure to find out what your store’s quantity limit is before you get caught at the register with too many items.
