How to Live Well on $20,000/Year

Saving money is just as effective as making more money, so perhaps reading this blog post will help you keep more of your hard-earned cash!  I came across a post on Reddit today, written by a person who has  managed to raise her family comfortably on an income of $20,000 per year with no assistance.  The general theme is that it doesn’t matter how much you make, it matters how well you spend it.  If you plan and are creative, you can live better on a $20,000 income than some people do on two or three times that amount.  I thought the post was very well-organized and easy to read, and full of good tips.  Of course, one of the tips was to use CouponMom.com which is how I found the post, and we couldn’t agree more!  In addition to how to save on groceries, our family has used many of her other tips on how to save on clothes, restaurants, entertainment and more.  I noticed that her lifestyle also included avoiding big debt (including avoiding a mortgage), so there were no crippling loan payments or interest costs.   Some of the lifestyle choices may be too rigid for some of us, but you can pick and choose the ideas that work for you.  It’s a quick read full of easy advice that is worth sharing.  This may not be new information, but if there is even one new tip or strategy that helps you, then you could save hundreds or even thousands of dollars over your lifetime, which makes a difference at any income level.
