1.   Use on-line planning tools. Websites such as Hotwire.com offer tools to determine the best timing to pay the lowest fare. Be flexible with your dates to save big.

2.   Use a Fare Watcher.  Expedia.com and Travelocity.com have Fare Watcher tools that alert you when fares for your desired cities have dropped. Register and receive weekly emails advising you the average ticket prices to your destination.

3.   Track your ticket after you purchase. Check out a tracking site like Yapta.com. Here you can monitor ticket prices after your purchase in case you qualify for a refund.

4.   Pack your own meals.  Don’t pay the premium for airport food!

5.   Don’t forget about parking! If you are parking your car at the airport, you can save by printing free coupons at LongTermParking.com.  We used a coupon that saved $25 over the course of our week’s vacation.
